Beijing —  Two more former Chinese football officials have been placed under investigation for corruption, adding to a growing a list of Chinese sports administrators suspected of unspecified illegal activities. Washington —  Concerned over its shrinking population, China is proposing new legislation to encourage ethnic Chinese around the world to relocate to China, bringing with them technical and entrepreneurial skills learned abroad. Washington —  The United States is on track to open a new embassy in Tonga this month, the top U.S. diplomat for East Asia said on Tuesday, part of efforts to step up its diplomatic presence in the Pacific region to counter China. European investment in China’s car sector has hit a record high as companies try to claw back market share from ascendant Chinese electric-vehicle makers.
